Whistler World Cup Highlights 2008, 2009

The 2010 Winter Games were the first ever to have all mountain competition venues completed two full years before the Games. This allows loads of pre-Games training for Canadian and international athletes. It's also a great to have the community participate (as spectators and volunteers) in amazing World Cup events. In Whistler, residents got to tour the venues, learn about the sports and get an up close appreciating for Whistler competition events. What's more, World Cup events help our home-grown athletes hone their skill with ample training opportunity.

Over the 2008 and 2009 winter seasons, nine World Cup events were held in Whistler. Not only did 2010 Winter Games athletes get to test out the new venues, thousands of spectators, along with hundreds of volunteers, were able to get a taste of the action. Each World Cup event was a true test for what to expect at Games-time and was an exciting preview of how Whistler will host the world in 2010.
