Routing Changes in Whistler During the 2010 Winter Games

Several route changes will be in effect in Whistler during Games time.  Drivers are recommended to allow extra travel time to accommodate these changes.

Access to Back Roads Around Whistler

The goal of the security planners for the 2010 Winter Games is to provide an increased level of safety and security on, over and around the designated Olympic and Paralympic sites. This involves implementing security measures on land, air and sea. The V2010 Integrated Security Unit (ISU) has brought together security and public safety agencies from all levels of government to plan towards 2010. By integrating all of this expertise, ISU determines exactly what is needed to keep people safe during the Games.

The location of public roadways in proximity to Olympic and Paralympic venues has to be considered in the overall security planning.  As such, some of the forestry service roads near venues in Whistler and in the Sea to Sky corridor will be closed to the public.

Forestry Service road closures:
Brandywine Forest Service Road February 1 to March 21, 2010
Callaghan East Forest Service Road - from Highway 99 to junction with paved road leading to the Whistler Olympic Park October 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010
Cheakamus River Forest Service Road - no vehicles allowed on west side access to Black Tusk October 15 to January 3, 2010
Cheakamus River Forest Service Road  - access to Jane Lakes east side access to Cheakamus Lake and west side access to Black Tusk January 4 to March 31, 2010
Daisy Lake Forest Service Roads - no stopping or parking except within authorized areas; no access beyond Whistler Bungee January 4 to March 31, 2010
